THE WORLD PEACE COUNCIL
LETTER TO PRESIDENT ARAFAT

WPC Assembly, Athens, 9 May 2004

Letter of Support

The Assembly of the World Peace Council, convened in Athens, expresses its deepest concern about the threats posed by the Israeli government against President Yasser Arafat.

We the delegates of peace movements from all over the world would like to reiterate our position with regard to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict that is based on the urgency on ending Israeli occupation and the full implementation of all UN Security Council resolutions, namely 242,338 and 194.

We would like also to express our deepest respect to the struggle of the heroic resistance of the Palestinian people for freedom and independence.

We take this opportunity to stress our commitment and support to the struggle of the Palestinian people under the leadership of President Yasser Arafat for achieving national and human rights of the Palestinian people and the establishment of the Palestinian State with East Jerusalem as its capital.

We believe that our joint struggle for peace and Justice will come to a successful end.

The Assembly of the World Peace Council
