May Day Call to Action: Defend the Workers of the World, Defeat US Wars at Home and Abroad

Join the May Day Rallies, Pickets, and Strikes!

May Day—International Workers’ Day—has its origins in the belly of the beast, born from the fierce struggles of the working class for the eight-hour workday. In 1886, over 300,000 workers across the country walked off their jobs. In Chicago, tens of thousands took to the streets. The Haymarket Massacre that followed gave birth to an international holiday celebrated in 66 countries—but one that has been largely erased from public memory in the country where it began. Workers are reclaiming that legacy.

As organized labor gathers on May Day under the banner: “No Work, No school, No shopping,” we join forces to reinforce the anti-war message that has been central to our internationalist labor struggle. We must fight back against the ruling class wars being waged against workers on two fronts. Abroad, US imperialism kills workers and their families in Palestine, Iran, Lebanon, Cuba, Haiti, Venezuela, Sudan through bombs, starvation, sanctions, blockades, structural adjustment, and other forms of economic warfare, while Trump threatens to bomb Iran “into the Stone Age. At home, workers face a class war: cuts to education, healthcare, housing, and climate programs, while the Pentagon gets $1.5 trillion. ICE terrorizes immigrant communities. Police murder, repress, and incarcerate Black and Brown people with impunity. Gas prices are up. Rent is up. Groceries are unaffordable. The billionaire class is attacking us at every turn.

Enough is enough. End the wars on the workers. Money for human needs, not imperialist wars.

This May Day, we take to the streets with rallies, pickets, and strikes. No work. No school. No shopping. No imperialist wars. No ICE.

Our Demands

  • Fund human needs not wars – move the money from the military-industrial complex to education, healthcare, housing, and climate action!
  • Block the $200 billion requested by the Pentagon as supplemental spending for the war on Iran – it drains $1.5 billion daily from the budget built on the backs of the working class!
  • Block all social spending cuts to the federal budget!
  • End the genocide in Palestine and the war on Iran and West Asia!
  • Halt all weapons sales, transfers, and economic support for the settler colonial state of Israel!
  • Lift the blockade on Cuba and remove Cuba from the State Sponsor of Terrosim list!
  • End all imperialist interventions across the Caribbean and eastern Pacific, including the extrajudicial killings of people in boats !
  • Release President Nicolás Maduro and First Combatant Cilia Flores!
  • Close all US military bases globally!
  • Abolish ICE – end attacks on immigrant, Black, Brown, and Indigenous communities!

Join the Movement

Shift funds from the war machine to human needs and life-sustaining institutions. Wage campaigns against poverty, inequality, and global injustice, not wars against global South workers.

This May Day: Rallies, pickets, strikes. No work. No school. No shopping. No imperialist wars. No ICE.

We encourage May Day marchers to join with banners, chants, drums, flags, and slogans supporting fighters on the front lines against US imperialism, racism, and capitalist exploitation. Defend the workers of the world. Defeat US wars at home and abroad.
