The U.S. Peace Council, joining dozens of anti-war organizations, calls you to take urgent action — create and join rallies, street meetings, vigils, speak-outs, teach-ins, sign holding and banner drops – to demand the U.S. end its ongoing murder of Latin American boaters and threats to bomb and invade Venezuela and overthrow its legitimate government.
The Trump administration’s claim that it is interdicting narcotics trafficking, coming from the world’s largest consumer of drugs and its biggest money launderer, deceives no one. The escalating attacks on Venezuela and Colombia, threats to overthrow the governments of Cuba and Nicaragua – openly display the U.S. reliance on its illegal Monroe Doctrine to control the resources and people of of this hemisphere on behalf of profiting the richest monopoly corporations. Further threats to invade Nigeria extend this Doctrine to Africa and the rest of the world.
Using the U.S. military abroad to enforce U.S. corporate hegemony is echoed in the invasion of federal troops and ICE agents in racist raids and mass arrests attacking working people in our own cities.
Venezuela represents a pillar of global resistance against imperialism, which is precisely why it is now targeted. The Bolivarian Revolution nationalized the world’s largest oil reserves for the benefit of its people and its Caribbean neighbors – not private corporate profits. Venezuela has led Latin America in regional integration. It champions unity with the Global South and especially besieged Palestine. All these actions directly threaten U.S. hegemony and monopoly profits.
There is no time to lose! Take action during the week of Nov. 15-23. Let’s join all the solidarity and peace groups in unity against the war makers. Let’s demonstrate that we reject war on people anywhere, at home and abroad. We reject imperialism. We oppose U.S. aggression and support a zone of peace Caribbean and Latin American nations are demanding.
